Director (m/f/d) Industrial Sales - Material Science Microscopy EMEA

Reporting to the VP MIS EMEA and responsible for EMEA Direct Sales in the Material Science Microscopy Division, ensuring the growth and development of the Evident business in line with the EMEA “Go To Market” (GTM) strategy. The role focuses on industrial clients, including manufacturing corporations and industrial research laboratories. The job is conducted in line with Evident’s code of conduct and core values: agility, empathy, long-term view, unity, and integrity.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Leadership & Team Development
    • Lead and mentor a high-performing industrial sales team across EMEA  
    • Drive team excellence through coaching, co-travelling, and continuous development  
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and growth  
  • Strategic Sales Planning
    • Define and execute annual sales strategies aligned with business goals  
    • Tailor go-to-market plans for key industrial sectors: automotive, aerospace, metallurgy, and electronics  
    • Align sales and marketing efforts to meet evolving customer needs  
  • Market & Business Development
    • Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities in materials science and microscopy  
    • Grow key accounts and drive solution selling for complex industrial applications  
    • Lead regional promotional activities and product launches  
  • Performance & Pipeline Management
    • Monitor sales performance, pipeline health, and CRM utilization  
    • Analyze product mix, conversion rates, and cross-selling effectiveness  
    • Forecast sales and ensure accurate order entry  
  • Customer Engagement & Key Account Management  
    • Build strong relationships with strategic industrial clients  
    • Act as a trusted advisor, understanding technical and operational needs  
    • Collaborate with marketing and product teams to deliver value-driven solutions 

 

Requirements

 

  • University degree in Material Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related technical field  
  • 10+ years of B2B sales experience in industrial sectors (ideally in scientific instrumentation, microscopy, or materials analysis)  
  • 5+ years of experience leading regional or international sales teams, including managing managers  
  • Proven success in selling to industrial clients and navigating complex procurement processes  
  • Strong track record in sales performance management and driving team success  
  • Expertise in structured sales methodologies and best practices  
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, motivate, and lead teams through organizational change  
  • Experience working in matrix organizations across multiple geographies  
  • Knowledge of microscopy and material science applications preferred  
  • Strong leadership, commercial acumen, and change management capabilities  
  • Ability to translate technical solutions into business value for industrial clients  
  • Proactive, customer-centric, and results-driven mindset  
  • Skilled in simplifying processes, enhancing productivity, and enabling sales success  
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills  
  • Fluent in English  
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% across EMEA 
  • Location: UK, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, or Italy
