Working Student Trade Compliance (m/f/d)

The product portfolio includes a wide range of microscope systems used in clinical diagnostics, medical and basic research, as well as in various industrial areas.
We are looking for a motivated Working Student to support our Trade Compliance team in Hamburg, covering both Export Control and Customs topics. You will join a small team of three in Hamburg and work in an international environment also with colleagues in the US and Japan. This is a great opportunity to gain practical experience in global trade compliance alongside your university studies.
Your responsibilities
- Support Export Control activities and documentation of exports and shipments.
- Check shipments against relevant regulations, including embargoes, dual-use regulations, sanctions and US re-export law, following internal guidelines.
- Support Customs activities, including maintaining customs tariff codes in SAP and preparing customs documentation.
- Maintain trade compliance data in SAP and ensure documentation is available for audits.
- Prepare reports and workload overviews for stakeholders.
- Support process reviews and improvements.
- Cooperate with internal stakeholders and authorities where required.
Your profile
- Currently enrolled at university, ideally studying Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, Law, or a related field.
- Interest in Trade Compliance, Export Control and Customs topics.
- Fluent English; German is a plus.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, as well as PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
- Analytical, structured and careful way of working.
- Reliable, proactive and comfortable taking responsibility.
- Good communication skills and ability to work across different functions and cultures.
- Curious, open to AI and modern ways of working, and interested in improving processes.
- Ideally able to stay with the team for at least one year.
- We would like to work on-site in our Hamburg office, 20 hours per week.
