Director of Agile Software Development (m/f/d)
Evident Technology Center Europe GmbH (ETCE), based in Münster, Germany, has been developing and producing intelligent software and hardware solutions for microscopy as a global "Center of Excellence" for over 35 years. Originally, ETCE was part of Olympus Corporation. Olympus spun off the business unit in April 2022 and transferred the business activities of its Scientific Solutions division to the newly founded, independent company Evident.
Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Evident employs around 4,500 people at a total of 57 locations worldwide, where it develops, produces and distributes Olympus brand products and is constantly expanding its product portfolio. Evident offers a wide range of microscopy systems for clinical diagnostics, life science research and industrial applications. In addition, Evident develops and produces videoscopes, products for non-destructive material testing and devices for X-ray fluorescence analysis.
At Evident, we empower professionals in the medical and life science fields with advanced imaging and diagnostic solutions. As Director of Agile Software Development, you will lead and develop our local software teams in Münster, working closely with global R&D centers – especially in Tokyo – to deliver secure, innovative, and regulatory-compliant solutions that make a real difference in healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Local management of Software Teams, including Test Coordination and Documentation
- Leadership of agile transformation and transition from waterfall
- Appropriate implementation of AI in software development processes
- Coordination of local software development projects with R&D teams in Tokyo
- Continous improvement of software development processes, including security by design and compliance with medical regulatory frameworks
- Continuous monitoring of technical trends, new technologies and competitors in software development
- Promoting environmental, health and safety awareness in the software departments
Requirements
- Advanced degree in informatics or computer science
- 10+ years in hands-on software development in multiple languages and stacks
- 5+ years in management of software development
- Strong track record in coaching and career development of staff
- Strong track record in continuous process improvement and structured problem solving
- Essential: a minimum of 5 years in Agile Software development
- Preferred: experience in successful transition from waterfall to agile software development
- Preferred: experience with Microsoft development environmental
- Preferred: experience in compliance with medical regulations (US, EU)
- Essential: excellent English skills (negotiation level), with basic Japanese as a plus
- Essential: local or relocation to Muenster, with 3+ days/week on site presence
- Occasional business travel to US and Japan (1-2 times/quarter)
